A message from President Law regarding events at Florida State University

Dear ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏCommunity,

We are devastated by the events that have taken place today at our fellow State University System institution, Florida State University. We continue to monitor the latest information and gather more details about this tragic situation. Our thoughts are with the FSU community, and I have reached out to FSU President Richard McCullough to offer any support we can provide.

We have no reason to believe that any of our ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏcampuses are threatened, but our university police officers are increasing their presence in an abundance of caution.

We recognize that many of our students have family or friends at FSU, while many of our faculty and staff have colleagues at FSU. Please know that the University of South Florida stands in solidarity with the FSU community, and we are here for you.

For those who feel personally impacted by these events and seek additional assistance, I encourage you to access the resources available to all ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏstudents, such as professional mental health care and virtual support through and . Faculty and staff may access free counseling services and connections to local resources through the Employee Assistance Program.

If you would like to learn more about how to prepare, or what to do in the case of an active threat, our university provides resources, checklists and trainings.

Together, we will navigate through this difficult time with compassion and support for one another.

Sincerely,

Rhea F. Law
President
