Rick Weinberg receives Distinguished Psychologist Award

Rick Weinberg, PhD, ABPP, associate professor in the Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling program, has been named the recipient of this year's Distinguished Psychologist Award by the . 
 
Weinberg was honored during the FPA Convention on Sept. 13 in Tampa.

The Distinguished Psychologist Award recognizes a member who has made significant and ongoing contributions to FPA, advanced the association’s mission, and demonstrated a lasting impact on the field of psychology.
 
“I was deeply gratified to receive this year’s Distinguished Psychologist Award and, to be honest, very surprised as well, as there are many psychologists around the state with noteworthy accomplishments who are equally, if not more, deserving,” Weinberg said. 
 
He continued, “Most everything I have done professionally at Թϱover the past 40-plus years has been deeply rewarding in the doing — from running an internship, teaching, presenting, serving on numerous committees, volunteering in the community, etc. The joy I get from the people I have met over the years, and have had the opportunity to do psychology with, are the major reasons I keep at it after all these years. So, to be recognized for what I deeply enjoy makes those efforts all the more satisfying.” 
 
The FPA is the largest professional organization for psychologists in Florida. Its mission is to support the professional interests of psychologists, promote and protect the science and practice of psychology, and advocate for public health and human welfare.
