Jack Drobisz, PhDAssistant Research Professor, Assistant Director |
Research Interests:
Use of innovative technologies in learning and social-behavioral interventions. Smart pedagogical agents. Automatic speech recognition and natural language understanding powered by artificial intelligence.
Dr. Drobisz is an information technologist and an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Child & Family Studies (CFS). He also serves as an assistant director of the CBCS Research & Data Center and a REDCap architect at the .
He earned his PhD in Instructional Technology from the ºÚÁÏÍø³Ô¹Ï±¬ÁÏ in 2017 and holds BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and USF. His graduate research examined how different pedagogical agents influence attention, situational interest, cognitive load, and reading comprehension.
Before joining CBCS faculty, Jack Drobisz worked as a software engineer in the information technology, telecommunications, and defense industries, contributing to several research and development projects, including start-ups in computer hardware, networking, and educational software. His current work focuses on adapting emerging technologies for educational software and social-behavioral research. This includes design and implementation of an intelligent platform for Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Electronic Data Management and Expert Decision Making (EDM²) in early literacy and teacher professional development, as well as the Story Friends series of interactive e-books for preschool children.
